And apparently they run around Dubai or whatever Middle Eastern country I’m assuming this is. These pics were taking from a Youtube video that was uploaded a month ago. I would post a link of the video, but I’m sure Kia is going to have it taken down soon.
The front end is ok. Not as handsome as the concept was:
They did actually keep the rear end from the concept though:
And the side profile, some people say they see a mix of everything from Bentayga, to Pilot or Traverse:
The interior was being described as being similar to the K900, which is sort of a high bar. Bu t then I did some digging and came across another video of someone doing a walk around of a prototype with offroad goodies on it and got a good interior shot of the dash:
Looks handsome. Almost Genesis like. Not digging that wheel though. Hopefully it was just for this car. I expect this thing to debut in a few weeks in LA or the beginning of the year in Detroit. No word or anything on engines but I wouldn’ t be surprised if this thing gets either a naturally aspirated V6 and the twin turbo V6 seeing duty in the G70 and Stinger, or the twin turbo V6 and optional V8 from the G80 and G90. No word on pricing yet either. What do you guys think?

I’m never going to stop being disappointed by this. The concept looked like a slightly daring certainly different production car. T he production looks like just another CUV. It lost so many nice details.

The concept looks like a bigger 2nd gen Forester to me.

that is a complement.

Right. This just blends into the crowd. I don't think Kia should've gotten this though. Genesis should've gotten an SUV this size at least. What reason will there be to buy this over the new Santa Fe which is damn handsome in person.

It is! GIB STI FORESTER PLZ!!!

I like it. Looks a lot like the Volvo XC90 and that’s a pretty car IMO. And I’m glad they ditched the vents and such. But I’m a fan of the subdued styling.

Looks ok, but would look better with wider headlights.

Nice GMC Yukon you made there , Kia.

New Albany Calvacade in the next GTA V update?

Agreed. The lights seem too small for the front.

Nah not that body. If it were, it would look like a giant Scion Xb.

Oh shit lol. You’re right.

I like it - very handsome (to me) from both the front and profile. Not digging the rear end too much.

I like almost all of it!
I wish the headlights were not so much to the extreme ends of the car’s face.
Other than that, it’s a really good looking car.

I only like the rear because it's the only part of the concept they kept.

it looks like a kids toy surprise SUV with stick on lights and windows.

I like it. But because it’s a Kia SUV? The resale will be batshit. Doubly so for a Kia. Seriously. The prices people are asking for them are insane.
Case in point, 2017 Kia Sorento LX. 40,000 miles on it and an accident requiring a tow. But, at least it’s CPO, so low risk . Except t hey want... twenty-one grand .
A brand new identically equipped Kia Sorento is $31 ,280 before you negotiate.
2015 SXes? $24k and up with a fuckton of miles on them (north of 50k.) And that’s pretty much FMV.
But surely the Sportage isn’t that bad, right? It’s not. IT’S WORSE. 15-16 Sportage EX with between 30k and 35k on the clock, $20k and up. TWENTY. FUCKING. GRAND. I can walk into the Kia dealer and buy a BRAND NEW ONE for that. No, SERIOUSLY.
Goddamnit Hyundai, why do you have to make it so hard to even LIKE you?!

The tail lights look like a snake.

I’m honestly okay with the front end. The prototype’s nose was a little too goofy, and the production version seems a bit more sensible in terms of proportions.
Plus they can BS it being a Yukon at a distance.
I agree that it ’d probably be better to land in the Genesis lineup to let it get a foothold.

T hat still is pretty decent looking, I actually like the production wheels better. But you are right, I think the grill would look better if the chrome trim went all the way ‘round like the concept.

Front end looks too Escalade for my tast e, yet manages to look cheap. Co ncept design was very classy, understated elegance, go back to the original design and you have a winner. From the front clip back is perfect, BUTTAFACE.

I could not agree more in regards to disappointment. My question is when will Kia ever come up with their own style or design? Why do they have to mimic other manufacturers? It looks like the new Volvo SUV from the rear and the interior dashboard is very similar to what Mercedes is doing with the S Class. I just kind of find it annoying, everything about this SUV and so many other Kia models is just a blatant knock off of other reputable brands! FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS DRIVE A KIA!

That is the cleanest Borrego I’ve seen in years.

Looks like a bastard child of an Escalade and Expedition, with tail lights from the milk man (CT6... XTS?... Whatever. )

It’s weird you mention that because a few months back when I was shopping for a car I checked our a few Optima SX’s and SX-Ls and it was crazy how their values were higher than similarly equipped Sonatas. I guess that spells good? Not good for that Stinger I want in a few years though.
![]() 10/29/2018 at 23:32 |

Yea. I just don’t think anyone been checking for a bigger Kia SUV since the Borrego. And the Sorrento seems to be doing just fine.

Damn you’re kinda right. I can’t unsee the intellectual property rights now.

Except not!
Because it’s just the goddamn SUVs . The resale values on the sedans basically follow the model of “the more it cost, the faster it depreciated off a cliff.” Case in point, you can go pick up a CPO 2015 K900 Premium with about 40 k on the clock for less than $22k. That’s more than 50% depreciation.
But surely the - yeaaaaaah I’m gonna stop you there. The V8 Luxury that had an MSRP of over $62k will cost you about one grand more than the V6 . And that’s the same dealership, also CPO, also 2015, and only 6k more miles. Or if you want one with half the mileage that’ll only cost you $2k more. And yes, that’s V8 Luxury to V8 Luxury.
So yeah, you can have a V8 Kia with a really quite amazing interior and a warranty for less than the cost of a brand new Sportage, Sorento, Sedona, or Optima.
But what about the Optima, hmm? The Optima has the Buick Regal depreciation curve if you can find one that hasn’t literally had the wheels driven off it. (How the FUCK do you put 70k miles on a car in 14 months?)
Case in point, 2017 Optima EX Premium off-lease CPO with 20k on the clock? $17k ask. New 2018 Optima EX with the same options , $32k MSRP. 2018 LX repo with CPO, premium package, premium color, and 3k miles, just $18k or ... $18 k off the sticker.
It’s just the damned SUVs that the prices are so completely batshit out of whack. I mean, shit, I can take my pick of a full dozen 2018 Forte LX loaners from a local dealer at $15.5k ask, all below 6k miles, all CPO . Or how about a Forte Koup? They’re all $11k ask and below. Sedona? Currently on “OH GOD WE BUILT TOO MANY MINIVANS AND NOT ENOUGH SUVS” pricing where they’ll take $10k off the top on any new one before additional rebates .
But the Soul? That’s SUV-enough. A 2015 with average mileage will set you back at least $13k.

I just bought Sorento loaded and love it, but I’d have bought this if it were available.

I had a 2011 Sorento with only 33K miles and traded it in on a 2019. The used SUV buyers in the area were drooling and swarming around it while my new one was beeing peeped for delivery. Made me sad to let it go; in 9 years of ownership it didn’t give me one single problem. Maybe that’s why used ones are so sought after.
